Hot on the heels of the delightful release ‘Young’ singer songwriter Lissy Taylor is back with a new single ‘She’s a Stunner’ released on the 24th June 2022. This is the second single from a collection of four songs to be released in 2022.
Lissy Taylor is a British artist, originally from Stoke on Trent, she moved to the United States in 2015 where she began experimenting with her song writing. Playing in bars across the states in her early years she developed her own unique sound with American influences and of course the UK indie culture. She returned to the UK in 2017 and graduated from BIMM (British and Irish Modern Music Institute, Manchester) with a first-class honours’ degree in song writing. She continued performing across the UK and completed her first UK headline tour in 2021. These shows paved the way for Lissy to be named as one of This Feelings Big in 2022 rising stars as well as perform her songs on Sky TV’s ‘Live from the Edge’ presented by Mark Radcliffe.
Taking inspiration from the likes of Florence and The Machine, Wolf Alice, Arctic Monkeys and Sam Fender, Lissy has released a number of highly acclaimed singles to date receiving accolades from Skin – Skunk Anansie and from industry bloggers including a premiere with CLASH magazine.
Lissy said about the single “When I wrote She’s a Stunner I wanted to write a big empowering track about strong women. I purposefully didn’t focus on any distinctive features because I wanted everyone to feel the main character’s energy. I wanted to vibe that strong powerful women are sexy; I’m bored with the damsel in distress narrative it’s overdone. “

I was lucky enough to be able to hear the track prior to its release (and many times since i hasten to add) and it is a ‘Stunner’. From the get go a pounding rhythmic drum, is backed up with luxurious guitar lead and melodic harmonies. Through all this, the unmistakable velvet vocal cuts through and intertwines. It’s a powerful statement of intent, ‘She’s a Stunner, everyone wants her’ no weakness she is in charge.

She’s a Stunner is a summer anthem, its opulent, its loud, driven by the drums and lead guitar, yet the vocal gives a softer edge without detracting from what Lissy is saying. The first track I heard from Lissy was ‘Young’ and I was amazed at her vocals, and its exactly the same amazement here with this. Although this is louder, brasher and more raucous Lissy’s voice is the power, just like the subject.
The lyrics include great lines such as ‘she’s got looks to kill, time to write your will, I think we’re gonna need a fire drill’ and add an air of danger, its flirtatious and dangerous, it’s like Killing Eve meets the Arctic Monkeys with Lissys fantastic vocal. This is sure to be a hit with her fanbase and new listeners alike.
