OK Cane are a four-piece indie/rock band hailing from Leicester consisting of Harrison Gent on Vocals and Lead guitar, Arlo Cooper on Rhythm Guitar Joe Chapman on Bass Guitar and Kian Sutton on Drums. Influences include The Smiths, Nirvana, The Stone Roses and many more.

Although only young, lead guitarist and vocalist, Harrison is no stranger to the music industry having already jammed alongside the likes of The Smiths, Andy Rourke, in addition the band have played for Oasis founder and Creation Records Legend, Alan McGee, performed for IDLES frontman Joe Talbot and supported Fun Lovin Criminals Drummer on his solo project – ‘Uncle Frank’ at Leicester’s O2.

OK Cane’s debut single ‘Wait’ was released on August 1st 2022, written by Harrison Gent and recorded at Potters View Studio apart from the drum parts which were recorded at Seamus Wongs Studio. The track was mixed and produced by Nick Trepka and Harrison Gent.

An almost tribal, deep, rhythmic, resonating drum introduces us to a delicate clean. melodic guitar line that is almost hypnotic. The riffs are intricate, catchy and show a real level of skill and maturity for these young musicians The guitar riffs shimmer, glorious descending solos backed with powerful driving rhythms push the song forward, for a young band this a brilliant debut, it really does have everything.

“Intricate, catchy and show a real level of skill”

Powerful haunting vocals have a ruggedness, an edge that adds an almost bluesy/soulful vibe to the song. And adds emotion to the proceedings. The opening line “Well listen to me now, you’ll see what you see” really draws you in, delivered in such a way that you can’t help yourself but to listen further.

“Vocals have a ruggedness, an edge”

All the individual parts really do complement each other, musically they are mature well beyond their age. They show an incredible amount of skill, from the pounding, rhythmic drums, resonating bass lines, complex, bluesy, delightful lead solo’s, melodic yet punchy guitar riffs and a mature, almost dreamy vocal that leaves you wanting more.

“Mature well beyond their age”

Sometimes a band comes along that you weren’t aware of and you just think wow. OK Cane are definitely one of these bands, for a debut single it’s up there. A great start and a big future ahead, I think.
