Hi and welcome to the Awayday Radio interview where each week we will be interviewing new and up and coming bands and artists from the UK. This week we have Reclaim Vienna.
Hiya Guys firstly thanks for letting Awayday Radio interview you.
Our pleasure! Decent name for a radio show.
Please introduce us to the band.
We are a six-piece electronic indie band from Cheshire. I’m Danny, songwriter and guitarist in the band. My twin brother, Ryan is the drummer, Steeno is the singer, Harlow on guitar, Hilly on bass and Harry the master behind the synth.

What first got you into music?
My Dad. My brother and I grew up with it. He used to play music constantly in the house and when we were old enough he took us to gigs and festivals. The first band we got into was Oasis. We still are now. I remember getting my first guitar when I was about 7/8 but never really started taking it seriously until I was around 12. My brother began playing the drums around the same time. I’m not sure why but we thought we could start a band with just the two of us. Not a daft idea, it worked for The White Stripes and Royal Blood. Our first song was called Come Around and as expected at 12, it was awful.
Who inspired you to make music?
Liam and Noel. They still do. I think people are quick to jump to conclusions when bands cite Oasis as their idols. Like we all walk round in Stone Island and Adidas trainers drinking Stella. Not the case for us (well it is for my brother). The way they relate to their fans and the way their fans can relate to them make them my biggest inspirations. They worked hard to achieve their goals and even to this day, they are both releasing music, inspiring the next generation of musicians. Regardless of what people may say/think, they are one of the most important bands to come out of this country.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
Party tunes. Songs you would want to be hearing at 2/3 o’clock in the morning. We try to make joyous electronic music that is somewhere in between traditional pop songs and dance music. Catchy choruses and melodic hooks. More recently, I have tried to include more messages into the songs lyrically.
Have you signed with a record label?
Yes. We are signed to 42s records in Manchester.

Where have you performed?
We have performed in many venues around the country. Manchester is our home and is the capital of music anyway.
What are your favourite and least favourite venues?
My favourite venue is Gullivers in Manchester. It is the first gig we sold out. Harry (synths) was able to create a show for the screen behind us which we can’t normally do at our level. It added to the spectacle of it all. I went to Croatia the day after and got engaged as well, so them 2/3 days was a memorable part of my life.
Do you have any upcoming shows?
We do. Like others, we are very restricted in what we can do. We’ve recently played for Everton TV, which was a highlight. We are due to announce gigs in Manchester with Scruff of the Neck for August and May.
What is your favourite song to perform?
Cool With It
What other songs or albums have you done?
We’ve released 6 singles in total with a couple of remixes as b-sides. Kick the Butterfly, Paris, Cool With It, Change the Echo, Modern Times and Infamous.
Which famous musicians do you admire and why?
Liam & Noel Gallagher. Didn’t have the easiest of childhoods, went on to being the biggest band in the world.
What is one message you would give to your fans?
Thank you for being a part of this band. We’ve been quiet recently but we have written almost an albums worth of songs that we will work through when we can see each other again. We are all alright and we hope you are too.
I got to ask this but what football teams do you support?
Me, Ryan (drums), Harry (synth) and Hilly (bass) support Everton. The lead guitarist Ryan supports Man United and lead singer Steeno supports Gillingham.
What casual gear do you all wear?
A few to be fair. Ryan (drummer) is mad on it. He won’t be happy if I get this wrong. His collection is around 80 pairs of Adidas trainers, 6 Stone Islands, a few Belstaffs and Moncler’s. He loves it. I’ve got a couple of CP Company over shirts as well.

What’s next for you?
We are to release a single called The Joker. Plans are in place to release an album this year but that could be the start of next year with everything that is going on.
Well, here at Awayday Radio we are big fans of yours so we will follow you on your journey to the top and we hope that you will come back and do another interview with us after you finish your world tour?
You’ll be with us on the world tour 😉
