Spiral City are an enigmatic alternative rock band from Coventry that strives to captivate their listeners by combining infectious grooves, sweeping ethereal guitars and thought-provoking melodic vocals.
The band is fronted by experienced and strong vocalist Louie Forde, who has been a full time, working musician for almost 10 years. Bass guitar and vocal harmonies are provided by Tom White, a multi-instrumentalist and a real music lover. Jack Waterfield, is the lead guitarist, as well as providing even more vocal harmonies. Jack is another multi-talented musician with a great love for recording and producing. Initially, the band’s drummer was Dan Ostrowski, though they have since parted ways for him to pursue other avenues. In the meantime, Harvey James is filling his shoes and keeping the train on the tracks with excellent work behind the kit.
The band’s debut release ‘Divide’ is now available for purchase and streaming on all relative platforms and is a bold song exploring the minds processing of infidelity. The intro guitar riff is delightful creating a hook that envelopes the whole song and creates a canvas for the rest of the band. Bold, emphatic drums and a driving melodic bass line create a deep almost resonating texture that allows the vocal to shine.
“Bold, emphatic drums”
The vocal is powerful, accomplished and clean, backed by an effervescent guitar riff and catchy rhythm through the verse and pre chorus giving a feeling of anticipation for the soaring chorus, complete with harmonies showcasing the many talents of all the band members
“An effervescent guitar riff”
Packed full of fantastic riffs and melodies that create texture and add a vibrancy that colours the whole track. There’s a short lead solo that adds a further lift, shimmering and climbing above the drive of the drums and bass before a final harmony infused vocal ending.
“Melodies that create texture”
This is a really impressive debut from Spiral City. Great musicianship, powerful, emotive vocals and strong lyrics. Its not 100 mph yet it has energy and drive that builds with a catchy rhythm and guitar riffs that create many hooks that give an added focus. It’s clear that Spiral City are experienced musicians, it’s a very strong debut release.
“Great musicianship, powerful, emotive vocals”
Spiral City played their first gig to a fantastic crowd supporting another great local band, Idle Noise at HMV Empire Coventry. Since then they have played a handful great venues including Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath (Birmingham), DeadWax (Digbeth, Birmingham) and a return to HMV Empire Coventry.
The band have studio time booked, songs ready to release and their first headline show at The Tin Music and Arts in Coventry. Tickets are cheap as the band are looking to put on a great night, not make a quick buck, which plays into the ethos behind the band. Write great music, put on great shows and the rest will follow.
