Hiya Guys firstly thanks for letting Awayday Radio interview?

Please introduce us to the band.
The Perps are a 4 (Potentially 5 tba) Indie/Alt Rock Band from Manchester, UK.
What first got you into music?
Think music is was in our DNA due to our Manchester heritage.
Who inspired you to make music?
Got to be all the Manchester bands you already know about and others, going to watch them in concert, at festivals and realising that’s where we wanted to be.
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
A combination of our light and heavy rock influences. Alongside the fierce tracks like Bad Way we have been known to sport the odd ballad like All Puppets, and plenty more to come later this year.
Have you signed with a record label?
Not one anyone would have heard of. We’re content doing things independently until an opportunity that works for both parties presents itself.
Where have you performed?
A number of club venues in Manchester City Centre and surrounding towns. We’ve played The Roadhouse (when it was open,) Fairfield Social Club, Club Academy, Yes Bar (Pink Room,) Blossoms in Stockport and of course Mash in Macclesfield. We’ve a special connection to the last one as we also partially tracked Bad Way in their live room.
What are your favourite and least favourite venues?
Think Club Academy is definitely our favourite show that we’ve played so far. This was mainly down to a big crowd and electric atmosphere but the light and sound techs in that place also do an incredible job.
Do you have any upcoming shows?
We have our EP launching in April and are hoping to get a show booked in the weeks following. We also have a headline show at The Deaf Institute from last year that unfortunately had to be postponed because of Covid.
What is your favourite song to perform?
Think the ballsy ones like Bad Way, Duchess, and Meglomaniac are the most fun to play. We do naturally get a better reaction from our releases so it all depends on the crowd on the night really.
What other songs or albums have you done?
We’ve got our EP launching in April combing the releases so far. It will also feature a bonus track that we finished tracking last weekend.
Which famous musicians do you admire and why?
Obviously there’s too many to list from a wide range of genres but a couple that spring to mind – John Frusciante because he can play the Snow Lick at full speed for 4 mins while singing at the same time. Taylor Hawkins, got to be one of the best solid rock drummers of a generation and hasn’t stopped grinning since 1994. Tom’s always been a Slash fan, Arik likes a bit of Sabbath. Finally don’t want to shame him but one member’s favourite track is Africa by Toto……..he plays percussion…….
What is one message you would give to your fans?
KeeP book tickets for shows as soon as you can. See you in a sweaty venue in June!!

EP Launch in April and hopefully get some more dates booked for the summer!!
