This week’s Interview is with Steven Lumb owner of Terrace Cult Clothing a new up and coming casual clothing brand for the terraces.
Hiya Steven and thank you for doing this interview for us.
Firstly how old are you and where did you grow up let’s get to know the man behind terrace cult clothing?
Hi guys thanks for having me, I’m 39 years old and I grew up in Moston North Manchester.
When did you get into fashion and casual wear?
I’ve always liked the terrace culture, the Adidas trainers and all the old skool clobber from the 80/ 90 era, Always enjoyed a match day see what people were wearing and what was new.
How did you come up with the idea of a terrace brand of clothing?
It was crazy really, I’d always been into my clothes and had an idea about my own brand but never really knew how to go about it, a Chance conversation on the way back from the FA cup final, Manchester City and Watford sparked the idea back up, in the days after the final we spoke again and Terrace cult was born, every idea and sample we put out to friends went down well and we realised we were on to something.

Where did the name Terrace Cult Clothing come from?
Terrace Cult is short for Terrace Culture, we decided to shorten it to cult because the people involved in the clobber and the culture are like cult followers, always striving for the best clobber and the newest bits to wear down the football or in the boozer.
Where did the terrace cult clothing logo idea come from?
The cross logo is from the queens crown, it’s the cross pattée, we originally thought about a crown but it didn’t come out right, once we saw the cross we knew it was small and unique so we went for it, the cross is used by royalty all around the world and is also used on the VC medal, with us being a British Brand we wanted something with a bit of history to it, so the cross on top of the queens crown ticked all the boxes for us and the logo has been well received all around the world.
Who is your target audience you are selling too?
We have a really diverse and varied audience, one thing we aimed to do is provide good quality affordable clobber and I think we do that, we listen to all our customers, we go up to 5xl in a few of our bits and we are trying to be a decent Independent clothing brand without the stupid price tags, we have a good family set up working with the brand and I think we offer a great service and a great affordable product.
Which teams do you all support?
I’m a Man City supporter I’ve had a season ticket since 1989 so I’ve been on one hell of a wide, the other lads involved in the brand support United and Liverpool so Monday mornings can be a little spicy in the office haha.

What casual clothing do you wear?
I’ve always been the same dresser, I like Lois jeans, a bit of Sergio and Ralph Lauren, obviously, now I’m Terrace cult everywhere I go so got to push the brand out there.
What music are you into and who is your favourite band/artist?
Being a Manc I’m spoilt for music, grew up with oasis and Stone Roses, I like a bit of Gerry cinnamon now and some great up and coming bands I’ve recently liked the skylights from Leeds are class, the skinner brothers I listen to and Reclaim Vienna could be big.
How did you become a main sponsor of Awayday Radio?
I really like what the radio station is doing and I get the concept, the audience is everyone we are aiming the clothes at so it works for us, we are proud to get on the journey with the station and I think together we can grow and have some fun!

What terrace cult clothing events have you put on?
So far we’ve just sponsored the Alan Brazil golf classic at centurion golf course
We are the clothing partners for the new rise of the footsoldier origins movie with Vinnie Jones
We sponsor boxers Lyndon Arthur and Joshua Frankham
We also sponsor Amateur boxing star Patrick Paton from Scotland.
What famous stars are helping promote terrace cult clothing?
We have a few famous people been caught wearing the brand, Joe hart, Ederson, Tyson Fury, Dele Alli, loads of boxers Lyndon Arthur, Zelfa Barrett, love island Chris Hughes, Alan Brazil and the talk sport lads support us so we have a really great customer base, Ivan Rakatic was recently spotted in one of our polos that was brilliant for us.

What’s in the future for Terrace Cult Clothing?
The futures bright for us, we’ve got an amazing spring and summer range in the pipeline, we’ve signed a deal with the rise of the footsoldier movie to provide the clobber for the film, we’ve recently got Tyson Fury on board who’s backed the brand and done some good photos for us, we are growing in Europe we have an office in Holland and a new office in LA so terrace cult is growing and it’s all thanks to the great customers we have all over the world.
Also any offers/deals for our Awayday listeners?
Yes, the Awayday listeners can get 10% off the whole site if they use code Awaydays10 at checkout, this code will make a bit of money for the station too so not only are you saving money on the clobber you are keeping the station going too.
Thank you, Steven, for doing an interview for Awayday Radio and we hope our partnership continues in the future.
Thanks very much for the chance to come on, I hope the Awayday listeners can get behind an Independent casual brand and I hope to speak to you soon.
