Man & Boy

Man and Boy are a VERY unique duo hailing from Stalybridge; on the eastern outskirts of that hotbed of musical talent, Manchester. This father and son duo, each very talented musicians in their own right, decided to combine their talents just 12 months ago, and have already released an E.P entitled ‘Pulling Strings’ on October 1st which was very favourably received – take a listen here:

The mix of jangly guitar riffs, strong lyrics and polished sound defy the fact that all of this is created by just two people! While the influence of the Britpop era is clear, and a particular Weller-esque vibe is evident on the track ‘When we were thin’, the duo manage to take this and create a whole new sound of their own.

With the young exuberant talent of Alfie, who has been hitting skins since the age of 11 and dad Dave who has been playing in bands for almost 25 years, Man & Boy have hit on something really quite wonderful.

Having been successful in his previous outfit, Britpop band ‘The Meanies’, Dave has already enjoyed recording sessions for the BBC at Maida Vale, as well as Radio One airplay in the mid-1990s. When Alfie then showed a natural talent and real hunger for music himself, it seemed only natural for the two to put their talents together.

Man & Boy play and perform purely for the love of music, and this certainly shows in their songs which are full of real passion as are their live performances.

While Man & Boy have flirted with the addition of other musicians, they feel that they are at their strongest as a duo where their intrinsic and natural musical communication can be used to the full rather than being diluted with the addition of outside influences.

The lads are going back into the studio in November, and are looking to tour nationwide sometime next year. Big things are coming so watch this space!
