Originally a trio The Shed Project are Roy (vocal) Tim (bass) John (rhythm) Olly (lead) Shane (drums) formed by Roy and John in 2018 in John’s garden shed (hence the band’s name) They released their first single ‘Livin’ in January 2020. Nine Singles later and after sold out gigs in Bolton and Manchester and featuring on the Brits and Pieces album, they released their debut album ‘The Curious Mind of a Common Man’ on April 29th 2022 to critical acclaim.

Influenced by the Manchester baggy scene of the late 80’s and 90’s, youngsters they are not and the hard knocks of life along with all the highs show through in their music, no pretence, no bullshit, they tell it as it is…Its relevant, you could say they have re-invented the sound but don’t be fooled, it’s not a re-run or a copy, they have made the sound their own, developed it and taken it to new level. The fact that they produce, mix and master all their track speaks volumes.

If You Know You Know Is the latest single from The Shed Project. Due to be released on all major digital platforms on 29th July 2022. Its the first single after the release of The Curious Mind Of A Common Man. After an amazing gig at Manchester Academy 3 June 25th they are set to  play at K Fest Rhyl, supporting Cast and the Dub Pistols on 6th August 2022. Recording of the 2nd album has already started and more gigs are to be announced soon.

I was lucky to get an early preview of the track and was instantly hooked, an explosion of a heavy driven guitar riff and a bomb of a bass note and pounding drum break introduces you to Roy’s unmistakable vocal that smacks you with a Ryder-esque attitude with the opening line “We’ve been sharing stories, we’ve been sharing dreams”.

“An explosion of a heavy driven guitar riff “

Guitar driven with a classic ‘Second Coming’ vibe, this track doesn’t shy away from their 90’s indie  sound, heavier than previous tracks, less subtle, it hits hard and packs a real punch, it carries a rolling drum groove and a  chugging bass but that guitar lead really carries it forward. To me its relatable, it carries a message, don’t listen to what the powers that be tell you…”if you know you Know…Right Now” However, for me It takes me back to the time when the likes of the Roses. Mondays, Charlatans etc were at the forefront, when you could enjoy yourself without caring what people think. Nostalgic!

“It hits hard and packs a real punch”

The track builds to a massive crescendo towards the end, everything picks up pace, again driven forward by the guitars, its ‘Begging You’ in overdrive. Personally I would love to see this track extended for longer with a massive guitar solo at the end its that addictive, but that’s just me. I’m gonna stick my neck out and say that this is the best one yet from The Shed Project, they just keep hitting the mark and pushing their sound forward, I for one cannot wait for their 2nd Album.

“Its ‘Begging You’ in overdrive”

The Shed Project have taken their influences down the garden, opened the door to the shed and produced not only one of the best albums of 2022 but a massive, explosive follow up single.
