Marseille are a young rock n roll band formed in late 2021 in Derby, England. The band consists of Will Brown, Joe Labram, Lennon Hall, Tom Spray and most recently Felix Moxey. Signed to Birmingham based label ADR Records, the 90’s Madchester scene and the 60’s Merseybeat is where Marseille draw most of their influences from.
In 2022 Marseille, have already had some success with the singles ‘Forget it All’ which was played on Soccer Am and the 9 minute monster ‘The Jungle’ (Review Here) followed by a remix feat. Vega Rally (Review Here). Over the summer, the band have also performed at the Y-Not and Isle Of Wight Festivals.
Now entering a new phase of Marseille with the expansion to a 5 piece, Will, Joe, Lennon, Tom and Felix are coming at you with a raw, energetic, floor filler in the brand-new single ‘FREEDOM’ set for release on 4th November. Marseille lead singer and songwriter Will Brown had this to say about the song: “Freedom is a song written about our hometown Derby. The lyric portrays how there’s not a lot going for it anymore. Once a city booming with life in the streets is now a dull, gloomy place which really needs something to liven it up again. I thoroughly believe our music could bring some life back to this city”
“Full of high energy guitar riffs”
The new single ‘FREEDOM’ is the band’s 5th release on the ADR label and sees a return to the trademark Marseille sound…and then some. Opening with delicious feedback infused drum beat before driven guitars takeover including a glorious pick scrape. It sets off at pace awaiting the magnificent vocals that Will possesses.
If you like guitar fuelled indie rock that oozes the swagger of indie bands from the 90’s Manchester scene brought up to date with their own undeniable class then this is for you. Packed full of high energy guitar riffs and hooks, hell for leather drumming and deep thunderous bass lines capped off with a melodic vocal that soars above the raw energy that the band creates.
“Oozes the swagger of indie bands from the 90’s”
The blistering guitar solos really take the Marseille sound up a couple of notches, euphoric and addictive they simply shine adding a vibrancy that keeps you hooked, and then there is the feedback that screams at you throughout without taking anything away from the overall sound of the track.
“Euphoric and addictive”
Marseille have, in my opinion taken things up a few levels and raised a high bar. For group of young lads their sound is accomplished, they have a swagger that oozes class in every track they release. I have said it before that they just get better with every release and this follows in the same vain, they have variety in their music, you know their influences and yet they make it their own, carry it forward and deliver quality tunes time after time. The Sky is the limit…actually I doubt that would stop them!
