Marseille are a young rock n roll band from Derby, England. Signed to ADR Records.  Will, Tom, Joe and Lennon play music reminiscent of the 60’s Merseybeat & 90’s Madchester scene with their own individual influences. In 2021 despite Covid-19 disrupting the music scene. Marseille kept busy, releasing their debut single, aptly entitled ‘Worlds Gone Mad’ and 2 further releases ‘Shout it out Loud’ and ‘State of Mind’.

In 2022 the band upped the ante releasing ‘She Knows a Place’ and ‘Forget it All’.  Those tracks caught the eye (and ears) of Birmingham’s ADR Records and the band were promptly signed. ‘The Jungle’ was first released In July and to some, was a gamble, a 9 min track doesn’t come along very often yet this won massive acclaim, packed with melodies, rhythm and grooves you would think it couldn’t be any better…enter Vega Rally.

Due for release on 7th October this banger of a remix from the acclaimed Vega Rally (Spirit of Spike island records) Marseille have been fans of Vega Rally’s music for quite a while and had no doubt in asking the Yorkshireman to remix The Jungle. Having already triumphed with  Pastel’s ‘Deeper than Holy Remix’  along with ‘Infinity 93’  and ‘Come Out n Play’ he gladly accepted and the result is an absolutely cracking indie- infused dancefloor classic. The remix is the bands 4th release on the ADR label.

Marseille guitarist Joe Labram had this to say about the original track “The song derived from a jam session in Will’s bedroom when we were 13. When I came up with this killer bassline that we never really did anything with at the time”. Four years later it morphed in to the jungle, and now it has evolved, from its humble beginnings is set to be a monster of a track. That’s the beauty of the music scene today.

There is a full on, no holds barred bass groove right from the get go, it thunders, whilst retaining the unmistakable vocal sound. It takes you back to the heady days of the Hacienda. Oozing in grooves and melodies throughout. Adding to what already is a fantastic track in its own right, Vega rally ramps it up, turns it on its head and takes it to another level.

“Oozing in grooves and melodies”

Blistering, explosive and yet still in keeping with the Marseille mantra it’s a blend made in indie music heaven. It works so well. Coming in at around 4 minutes it could easily go the full 9…in fact I would like to hear that. It’s got huge a deep bass line and thunderous drum grooves, not for the faint hearted. This will get you up and keep you up and wouldn’t go amiss on any dancefloor.

“A blend made in indie music heaven”

Energetic and powerful as it is, it does have subtle trance undertones which again blend well with the driving beats. a fusion of classic indie, delicious rhythms and electronic melodies take the track back to the 90’s yet it’s a 21st century vibe.

“A 21st century vibe.”

Marseille along with Vega rally have produced a fantastic dancefloor filler here, no mistake, the jungle is the perfect track for a remix, already having that groove, the addition of Vega’s input adds a fresh take on a classic track from one of the best up and coming bands out there. This one track not to be ignored. Buy it, play it and play it again. It’s hard not to!
