Lucille were formed in 2017 after the departure of lead singer Lauren from previous band Neon Knights, the band spent several months trying and testing new singers and new songs before the realisation that Marc, the main song writer and backing vocalist would be the best suited person for the job,

A slight stylistic change from the pop rock of Neon Knights to the darker anthemic sounds of Lucille and the band were raring to go. Fast Forward to 2020 and their debut single ‘Nothing Comes For Free’ was released into the world and has since amassed an incredible 21k views on Facebook,

Last Year they released they’re most recent single ‘Rise’ which was self-produced and were privileged to debut it on BBC Scotland as part of a live 3 track session. They took the single on tour which took them as high as Thurso in the upper reaches of Scotland and all the way down to Liverpool where they were grateful to play the iconic and world-famous Cavern Club and Cavern Pub

Next year they have already confirmed a return trip to the Cavern Club and have just finalised studio dates for another single scheduled for February 2023 with a top Scottish producer, they now have aspirations to tour the UK to coincide with this release and to focus more on playing the full length of the UK as opposed to just focusing on just the Scottish Highlands.

October 7th sees the release of their next single, ‘Downtown’. A song that takes a memory infused look at their hometown of Inverness. Having seen this band live, one thing I can tell you is that they bring energy with catchy lyrics and above all great songs and this is no different.

“They bring energy”

From the start, melodic lead riffs backed by punchy rhythm hooks start the journey, before a rolling barrage of pounding drums introduce us to the vocal. It has an almost punk edge to it, catchy and full of rhythms that…well…simply get the feet tapping. Its fresh and vibrant and is sure to be a firm live favourite.

“Fresh and vibrant”

The vocal is strong entering with the line “I’ll take you downtown, show round town, I’ll take you to the place when I was younger” Simple and honest lyrics delivered with a kick, the chorus just soars, thumping bass and driven riffs accentuate the vocal, that gives everything a huge lift, I really like the tone in the vocal, it gives the track an upbeat feel. I do like the harder edge that the guitars bring too and it fuses well with the vocal.

“Thumping bass and driven riffs”

The track builds to a crescendo of drums, bass and an almost dark solo before kicking off into the chorus again. Its very catchy and anthemic. it  will have you singing along. It’s a bit of an earworm, I have had the melody rattling around my head for days now…so that can’t be bad can it.

“Catchy and anthemic”

There aren’t too many bands kicking around up here in inverness, if this is the calibre that’s out there then perhaps it’s time for more to come forward. Playing live they are great, they really get a crowd going, and interact well with audience, and have a great stage presence. A really impressive track is this. Give them a go.
