Finding Bella are a five-piece indie rock band formed in the West Midlands. The band consists of: Oliver White (Vocals and Guitar), Simon Black (Lead guitar), Ben White (keys/synth), Liam Hadfield (Bass) and John Woodward (Drums). Originally formed during the COVID-19 pandemic, the band’s mutual appreciation of eclectic alternative indie rock led to them performing and writing music together in the hope that their strong passion and energy could be shared with a wider audience. By the end of 2021, the band had begun to frequently gig in and around the Birmingham area, showcasing their varied catalogue of original and cover music whilst ever increasing their support base and reach.

They released their debut single, ‘Good Right Now’, on 11th February 2022 and increased the band’s listener base with early reviews citing clear influences of Oasis and Kasabian within the track creating a nostalgic sound of the 90’s. I was luckey enough to interview the band earlier in the year prior to the release of their second single as part of our Waxing Lyrical series of interviews.

Their second single, ‘Set It Off’, (Read my review HERE)  carried forward the momentum created when they exploded onto the Birmingham scene in February, but this time showcasing their musical diversity by exploring the genre further while still maintaining the tonal elements and integrity of their sound.

Their latest single ‘Drama Kids’, set for release on 30th September is a reflective look at the trouble people get into as witnessed on their nights out. Something we can all relate to. To celebrate the release of ‘Drama Kids’, Finding Bella are headlining the O2 Institute 3 in Birmingham on 07/10/2022.

“A real upbeat feel”

From the off its catchy riff hooks you immediately, drags you out of the door and onto the streets of…well, anywhere really for a night out on the town. The lyrics set the scene, descriptive and relatable “Broad Street lights replace the skyline, one quick pint turned into nine” A great vocal delivered with   honesty and to the point. It has a real upbeat feel driven by a bouncy drum pattern.

“Descriptive and relatable”

One thing you get with Finding Bella is melodies, and there’s no change here, packed full of chiming guitars and a tone that warms against the cold night air. It’s a real journey. As with most nights it doesn’t always end well yet “The Drama Kids feel no remorse” Just about sums it up.

“Packed full of chiming guitars”

Again, this is another great release from Finding Bella, they just get better and better with every release, its clear they are on a journey, taking everything, they do to the next level. After only three releases they have a sound that’s accomplished and are set for big things. Watch this space!
