Lissy Taylor has already had the BBC Introducing Record of The Week at BBC Stoke three times in a row this year for each set release so far. Now she is back with her fourth release this year ‘Fierce’
After receiving accolades far and wide including Clash Magazine, plays on Radio 2, Radio X, multiple records of the week on BBC Introducing Stoke and being shortlisted for Radio 1’s Live Lounge it’s been quite a year but it hasn’t stopped there. She was named This Feeling’s and BBC Midlands big in 2022. Earlier in the summer she performed on the main stage at Into the Wild festival, This Feeling stage at the YNOT Festival along with a support slot for Stanleys at O2 Manchester Club Academy.
But wait, there is more, on November 2nd Lissy will be performing at Manchester City FC Etihad Stadium Pre – Champion’s League match. December 9th sees a hometown gig in Stoke at The Underground supporting Darla Jade. Lissy will also be performing again at the O2 Manchester Club Academy January 27th supporting New Rules. After the successful ‘She’s a Stunner’ Review Here and ‘Healer’ (Review Here) she returns with another fantastic track championing empowerment, produced by Gareth Nutall (Frank Turner, Lottery Winners, The K’s).
According to Lissy “I bought a collection of poems written by women titled ‘Fierce’ and thought that I would make ‘Fierce’ my next single title, inspired by women in creative industries, changing the landscape of what has been done before. Inspired by ambition, determination and unwavering self-belief. I started writing with the song title then I wanted a big chorus to match it, which seems to be a habit of mine”
“Unmistakable soaring vocal”
This track delivers on all fronts, immediately the opening guitar intro provides a punchy backdrop before Lissy’s unmistakable soaring vocal interjects with the opening line “Is this enough yet, should I bleach my hair, tell me what to wear, would that turn your head” defining the subject matter and showing what self-belief is all about. Its clear that ambition and determination is a big part of Lissy’s ethos and it’s there in bucket loads.
“A scorching chorus”
I have said it before and will say it again, Lissy has a voice and a style in its delivery that is unrivalled, it packs a massive punch, so much so that it is impossible to ignore and this track is no different. It has an added edge that matches the title, its uplifting, sending out the message that know matter what life throws at you, get back up, light the fire and don’t let things get you down, don’t stop chasing your dreams.
“Chiming swirling leads”
This is a real anthem, a scorching chorus and packed full of huge melodies, the guitars are gritty and with chiming swirling leads that give an added lift, punchy drums added further fuel to this fiery track. Every song Lissy releases raises the bar again and again and with the promise of more singles to come in 2023 even the sky can’t provide a ceiling to contain her.
