Treble Helix are an Edinburgh based experimental/psychedelic indie rock band established in August of 2021 as a recording project comprised of husband-and-wife song writing team Kier Lavin (Producer/Guitars) and Steph Lavin (Keyboards/Vocals) with Glasgow singer/songwriter Donny Gallagher (Vocals/Harmonica/Percussion) joining them on lead vocals, they have since recruited two additional full time members Stuart McFarlane  (Bass) and Stuart Douglas on (Guitar).

They have independently released 3 singles up to now with each one doing better than the last. Their last single ‘Archies Prophecy’ has been played on coveted spots on national radio stations such as John Kennedy X-Posure on Radio X and the Jim Gellatly show on Amazing Radio. It has also seen tremendous support amongst the independent radio community, with DuggyStone Radio and Charles Motorbike show both giving the track a lot of air play. Always striving to move forward the band released their 4th single ‘Happy’ on the 30th September. Their other previous releases include the shoe gazey ‘Moon Rabbit’ , and the ‘The Weather is Changing’, all great tracks.

Kicking off with banging marching drumbeat broken with intermittent guitar strums and keys it explodes into a crescendo of Wah infused melodies and Madchester psychedelia. Its lush and rich and the soundscape will fill any room.

“Wah infused melodies”

The vocal is confident and strong and the lyrics are fun plenty of zings and zongs. It is filled with a happy energy, almost euphoric and has real uplifting feel. The bass and rhythm have a rolling almost galloping feel taking you to the chorus where the vocal turns up a notch, although it has the Manchester Vibe there are strong elements shouting back to the sixties which I feel work really well together.

“Melodic bass and jangly rhythms”

We are treated to more Wah guitar which wraps itself around the melodic bass and jangly rhythms. It’s a track that will be in your head all day. Its catchy, it gets the head nodding and the feet tapping. I can see a packed dancefloor really grooving to this one. You can tell instantly the band are having fun. It’s a really great track.

“A smattering of 60’s psychedelia”

Having only just been introduced to their music I have listened to their other tracks and I am hooked. They have a confidence, are definitely accomplished musicians and I personally think these will win a lot of listeners with this track. They have a sound reminiscent of the of the80’s and 90’s Britpop ere with a smattering of 60’s psychedelia. What could be better.

The band have also announced their first confirmed gig (so far!) on Saturday the 10th December at Sneaky Pete’s in Edinburgh. Posters for the gig and ticket details will be released the same weekend as Happy… I’m Happy!
