Edinburgh based band The Phantom Project combine soaring leads backed by a lush soundscape, progressive bass, anthemic vocals and high energy drum grooves. The band consists of Colin Simpson (Vocals and Guitar), Jamie Robertson (Drums), Alfonso Sanchez-Cruz (Lead Guitar) and Lee Tallintire (Bass).

After a couple of demo releases, ‘Broken Fingers’ and ‘Fallen Times’, the band have been busy perfecting their music introducing a more mature and complete sound allowing them to reach new heights with an added level of hunger. The Phantom Project are set to releases their new single ‘Ink on Paper’ on 30th September, to coincide with this the band are headlining at Stereo in Edinburgh on 1st October.

If you like guitars with strong melodies, upbeat riffs then this is definitely for you. The opening riff really packs a punch and introduces a groove filled, almost dance style drum beat. The blend of hard rock riffs and a dance vibe work really well giving an air of maturity. The energy and power in the drums really power the track forward.

“Guitars with strong melodies”

The soaring vocal is powerful, it’s a strong rock sound, The lyrics take you on a journey telling you “What you always want, isn’t always what you get” and “People come and go and I’ll be the one you won’t forget” and yet there are elements of a strong dance groove shining through. Numerous melodic guitar riffs and hooks intertwine with the vocal, the effects used give an almost spacey atmospheric tone. I really like the guitar sounds on this one. They are complex and contain depth, they ooze energy. Best of all its LOUD!

“A strong dance groove shining through”

The track builds to an explosive, blistering crescendo, heavy rock guitars give a brief introduction to a raucous thundering bass solo whilst a barrage of drums fuel the pace and energy, building and building, getting you ready for a glorious rock filled guitar solo that just screams and soars. Full on rock n roll. When this is played live it will blow the roof off.

“A raucous thundering bass solo”

This is a really impressive track, more edge than a multi-faceted diamond with twice the shine, its brash, in your face rock, well put together, this band are tight, the mix of groove filled drums, upbeat riffs (and there are many) and pure energy make this a really exciting track to listen to. A Sure-fire winner in my opinion.
