Hailing from Caerphilly, this alternative indie four piece bring indie vibes and true soul, Influences ranges from a number of genres, Alternative, Psychedelic, Indie and Shoegaze and all these genres are drawn from with their sound. Formed during lockdown when a renewed rush of enthusiasm to write music again after letting it slip by inspired them, the decision was made to just do it and record their songs properly rather than let them go to waste.
Stellar echoes are currently in the process of recording…well…as much as they can with an aim to get an album out there. The songs are written by vocalist and guitarist Huw Webb. The band describe their music as Psychedelic shoe-gaze garage rock.
They released their debut ‘White and Blue Eyes’ earlier this year and have just released ‘Long Walk Home’ on 28th July 2022, and what a release. I was instantly hooked by a swirling, atmospheric guitar intro, reminding me of the Mock turtles, but only briefly, this riff continues before a battalion of drums kick in with a bass line that pounds. The vocal is powerful and packs authority over everything else, it has to be, this is not for the faint hearted.

So many elements to this, swirls, distortion, and thumping drums and bass, and it builds and keeps building to the chorus, “It’s a long walk home” it sounds like there’s a hundred guitars in there, but it’s not overdone, a melodic lead chimes throughout. I hear undertones of early Verve, a hint of Jesus and the Mary Chain even Black rebel Motorcycle club…don’t ask me why, just my initial thoughts. Added to that it has a modern indie vibe, but it’s different almost unique. Its complex, and has a real vibrant bounce to it. I would love to hear this full volume live. For me it has everything I like, power, drive and bags of energy, packed full of guitars and a beat that just keeps giving.

Long walk home should feature on many playlists, it has an anthemic driving rhythm, blistering, soaring guitar hooks and melodies throughout, its vibrant, energetic and full of drive. its an ethereal mixture of slightly obscured vocals, guitar distortion lots of effects, feedback, and its loud. If you like guitars, if you like a beat and bass line that pounds in your chest this is definitely for you.
