Marquis Drive are set for lift off with the release of their new single “Spaceman”. It is their third release this year adding to the chart topping “Proud” and “Truth Don’t Shock” and it lands on the 30th November on all digital platforms. It might be a small step from the powerhouse anthems of Proud and TDS but given its raw energy, its popular appeal and its sheer melodic potency, it might prove to be a giant leap.
The 7-piece indie rock band from the West Midlands don’t do half measures but “Spaceman” is emphatic as it gets. It oozes
feel-good and confidence and will have you singing “Everybody loves a Spaceman” along with everybody else in your bubble
by about the time of the second chorus!
Although Elon Musk’s algorithm will have surely worked it out already, here is the anthem that might just remind us that
2020 wasn’t all Covid, and was also the year of the Spaceman. A rare moment it was as well, but one, just as the music, that
makes us full of optimism for the future.
The gigs might have stopped for now, but the good times are almost certain to return. For Marquis Drive this year’s releases
have landed them a huge slot at the Creation Festival next year where everybody’s favourite Spacemen will be supporting
Editors and The Happy Mondays in what looks set to be one of the biggest gigs of the year.
