THE ORIGINAL LINE-UP OF THE DAMNED HAVE ANNOUNCED A ONE-OFF TOUR FOR 2021.
The four founding members of The Damned announced the news yesterday with a press conference at Camden’s ‘Roundhouse’ venue, original band members, Dave Vanian Rat Scabies (real name Christopher Miller), Captain Sensible and Brian James will play four shows next year in July.
This will mark the 45th anniversary of The Damned who formed in 1976 and were the first UK punk rock bands to release a single ‘New Rose’ just beating the Sex Pistols release of ‘Anarchy in the UK’ and a year later followed it with the album ‘Damned Damned Damned in 1977.
The Damned who have been a five-piece band in recent times released their EP ‘The Rockfield Files’ earlier this year, however, this tour will focus on records from the original groups first two LPs, the aforementioned Album and ‘Music For Pleasure which was also released in 1977.
Drummer Rat Scabies and guitarist Brian James will be appearing on stage with the group for the first time in over 25 years. Lead singer Vanian remains the only constant band member.

Rat Scabies and Captain Sensible both in their 60s were asked what their vices are these days, they joked Ibuprofen or maybe too much tea!
Asked about the early punk rock scene Rat Scabies said;
“We were not a uniform punk band and I think if people of our generation didn’t understand that what we really did was exploit the true freedom of punk, which was to do what you wanted.”
“I didn’t care whether you wore a tutu or a cloak. What difference does it make to me? It’s not my right to say and it’s nobody else’s either.”
“But I don’t think it did us any favours with the fashion scene.”

The tickets will be on sale tomorrow and the tour dates are below.
