Hi and welcome to the Awayday Radio interview where each week we will be interviewing new and up and coming bands and artists from the UK.
This week we have a band from Yorkshire who are destined for greatness. The buzz around them is massive and big things are just around the corner for them.

We’re Skylights, a Yorkshire band from Acomb York.

How did you first get into music?
Like any lad growing up with football and music the main band of the time where Oasis, we then came across other influential bands like Leeds band The Music, The Stone Roses and so on.
Who inspired you to make music?
Watching the Stone Roses as a young kid and seeing how the lads in bands pulled the birds.
How would you describe your music?
Anthemic riff heavy tunes that are pretty simple.
I see you recently signed with a record label. How did that come about?
We got called from a label in Australia who wanted to sign us but I didn’t like the sound of it so I called Manchester label 42s and the man that runs it, Phil sounded like he new what he was doing.
Where have you performed?
Small venues around the country. Got a few big gigs booked but thanks to Covid they have been postponed.
What are your favourite and least favourite venues?
I can’t remember where it was but we played to a fireplace in Leeds.
Favourite venues are The Wardrobe, The Brudenell (Both Leeds) and the Crescent in York.
Do you have any upcoming shows?
Leeds University and Picec Hall in Halifax with Shed Seven.
What is your favourite song to perform?
Personally, been the guitar player it’s YRA.
What other songs or albums have you done?
The only official single is Enemies. We played that on Soccer AM to release it.
Which famous musicians do you admire and why?
Adam Nutter. Oasis. Shed Seven, Chris Helme and Stu Fletcher. To name a few.
What is one message you would give to your fans?

New Single Darkness Falls out this month. Bit of a difference sound for us.
