As far as gigs go, this was pretty special.

It was the one where we were venturing into the unknown and most definitely out of our comfort zone as a station. Did we know what to expect? Absolutely not. Did it turn out to be up there with the other two that we’ve done, if not better? You better bloody believe it.

GAZ Price kicked off the night with an acoustic set and had people engaged from the get-go. That’s all you can ask for from an opener which is by no means an easy task.

GAZ Price got the night off to a blinding start!

The Wainstones were up next and if for some reason you weren’t moving already, you were once these kicked in. Renditions of ‘Bouncing off the Walls’ and ‘Sunshine Baby’ (see below) had people wanting more as more people piled into the venue for their live music fix.

The night’s penultimate act saw The Jack Fletcher Band (last minute replacement for Docksuns [bloody Covid]) play the liveliest acoustic set that has been ever known to man. All the other bands were from the North East so naturally, the people take to them.

The Jack Fletcher Band came up from Wolves and very, very nearly, stole the show. We’re fortunate enough to have them on another gig in a couple of weeks so make sure you don’t miss out on that one. Details are below. A blinding lineup, it has to be said.

What a gig this will be!

Then the main event of the evening. Social Room. It takes a lot to leave me speechless. This was one of those rare occasions. From the first track to the last, they were simply irresistible. Think the Arsenal Invincibles at their peak. That good.

A mindblowing cover of Underworld’s Born Slippy accompanied with their own music meant the set they produced was up there with the very best that I’ve seen this year. Birchy filmed ‘Chase Those Tears’ fortunately so you can have a taste of what it was like. All that remains to be said is that you have to see Social Room live to truly appreciate how good they are. Don’t miss out next time!
