The Shop Window debut live performance!!

The Shop Window are set to release their 1960s psychedelic – Inspired new single, ‘Lay of the Land’ on 12th November. A self-release, the track offers a flavour of what fans can expect from their upcoming album. The swirling psychedelia of the verse kicks into a killer chorus loaded with 80s/90s indie swagger whilst managing to sound firmly planted in the now. It’s like they have their very own flux capacitor to step into any decade they choose at any given time, just to bring it back and bake it into their own jangle pie!
Ahead of the release, I caught up with Carl Mann of the band to find out about their first ever gig – held on 10th October at Drakes in Maidstone.
“We were supposed to play our first gig in April of 2020 but then Covid hit and ruined all that; on the plus side we were able to finish our album and release it this year. We finally played our first ‘The Shop Window’ gig on Sunday 10th October. We’ve all gigged in previous bands and sometime in the same bands but this one meant so much more, due to the wait and the success of our releases we felt under pressure to prove we could do it live. The gig was a success and huge buzz, it also felt like a massive relief to get the first one out of the way and the ball rolling. It had been at least a decade since some of us had played on the same stage together, but it felt so right and so good! Bring on the next one!!”
Further live performances are planned, and you can catch the band at the following:
13th November – The Flower Pot, Maidstone, Kent
26th November – 02 Islington Academy 2 London – (Supporting Thousand Yard Stare)
13th December – The Forum – Tunbridge Wells
19th March – 33 Oldham St, Manchester – with Arcade State & Jay Tennant
