Redeemers are a five-piece indie-rock band, the quintet are fronted by the charismatic Matty McCallum who is joined by main songwriter Eoin Harkin (lead guitar), Jacob Jones (rhythm guitar and backing vocals), Connor Doyle (bass guitar) and Jake Byrne (drums). Redeemers have been performing live since last July 2021 and with a successful support slot with The Rah’s are set for a big year ahead with the release of now music and gigs up and down the country coming up.

VENUE AFFAIR is their debut single akin to other incredible debuts such as ‘Supersonic’ and ‘I Bet You Look Good on The Dancefloor;’ ‘Venue Affair’ is a powerful yet melodic statement of intent. The song is set in and inspired by the legendary Manchester indie-club The Venue

Lead guitarist and songwriter Eoin Harkin says “I wrote the song with just the image of the place in mind, the thought of that feeling of youthful escapism. You know finding that little get away spot where things are a bit different, you can have a laugh and enjoy yourself”

I was lucky enough to gain a pre – release listen to this track, volume cranked up, headphones on…I have to say my eardrums have gone…fantastic! Its starts as it means to go on…explosive, riotous, unadulterated chaos. Blistering guitar riffs, a trademark of lead guitarist Eoin, set the pace throughout, yet its melodic. Hints of Arctic Monkeys infused with a punk edge it defines that feeling of a night out where you can just let yourself go.

“Explosive, riotous, unadulterated chaos”

The vocal is delivered like a pistol shot, leading you into ‘The Venue and keeping you there, snapping at your eardrums, aggressive, with a bit humour thrown in for good measure. A throbbing bass line part way in, changes it up slightly, with a chugging lead riff and a machine gun drum, and then a slightly toned down vocal, “it’s the feeling of excitement we try to maintain” its escapism, forget about everything and enjoy yourself…we all need some of that. Then it explodes again for a piledriver of an outro. Ending with a hushed  ‘Wow you can really dance.’

“Chugging lead riff and a machine gun drum”

Venue affair, is authentic, passionate and full of energy, its raucous, chaotic mayhem, yet it is full of melodies, great guitar riffs, thumping drums and rumbling bass lines, it will leave your ears ringing, as a debut single its brilliant, it makes you sit up and take notice. If you like energy, and riotous rock n roll this is for you.

With more songs recorded and ready to be released throughout the rest of the year under their belts, Redeemers have not only lit the fuse but allowed it to burn and send a rocket into the night sky and they are ready to take off further with this release and the promise of more to come. An incredible debut single.
