Birmingham based band 3 Little Wolves came together after playing in various local bands to create something that sounds a little different. They consist of Paul (Vocals, Rhythm guitar) Corrinne (Keyboards, Samples) Leong (Lead guitar) Dale (Bass) Khay (Drums). Although dubbed as an ‘indie band’ they are not run of the mill, no Oasis or Arctic Monkeys soundalikes here, they take in a range of influences from trip hop to dance, hard rock and synth pop, a fusion that gives them a unique sound and it works having gained over 15000 followers across all social media platforms.

Signed to Deliberator Records, the band are fast gaining a reputation for their uniqueness and fantastic song writing. After sold-out gigs in Birmingham and Glasgow last year and with gig and festival appearances this year they are one of the latest hotly tipped bands to come out of the Midlands. Following the critical and commercial success of their last single ‘Fractured (a bit)’ 3 Little Wolves then released a sweeping, romantic single, a hazy dreamlike soundtrack for the summer. ‘Torch Song’ (Review Here)

Now they are back with another change of direction on their new single ‘My House’ due for release on 11th November. It is a favourite in the Wolves’ live set and is taken from their eagerly-anticipated debut album ‘Fires in the Night’, out in early 2023.

‘My House’ describes having to leave somewhere and the mix of hope, fear and the ache of the things and people we have to leave behind. Lead guitarist Leong had this to say about ‘My House’… “My House was the song that persuaded me to join the band. It is the song I look forward to playing the most, and was also the song I enjoyed recording most. I love songs that make you feel uneasy about yourself and the world.”

“Emphasis on melodies”

Instantly catchy, the opening guitar chimes creating a backdrop for the sparkling synths underneath, its rich and multi layered and has a bright upbeat feel. One thing I like about the Wolves is the emphasis on melodies and this has them in abundance. There are melodies and catchy little hooks everywhere, it has great depth, every time you listen you hear something different whether it be a short synth run or a little guitar riff.

“Rich and multi layered”

There’s no heavy driven guitars or distortion, its clean and crisp, it’s a unique sound. Everything chimes and shimmers giving a multi coloured soundscape. The rhythm is hypnotic and the guitar/synth combination makes it addictive, you will want listen to this over and over again.

“The rhythm is hypnotic”

The vocal, its smooth and melodic, the velvety tones trip in and out of the swirling cinematic backdrop. It sounds fantastic. I can see why this is favourite in their live set, it showcases the skill and accomplished musicianship within the band.  Added to this there are harmonies galore, I get a hint of a bluestones vibe in the vocal, it’s a fantastic sound. All in all, everything blends and fuses perfectly, the combinations of the numerous tones create an atmospheric yet vibrant sound.

“Swirling cinematic backdrop”

Yet again the wolves have stuck to their guns, producing another refreshing track, uniquely different to most indie bands out there, complex instrumentals made to sound easy, fantastic silky vocals and clever, accomplished song writing…what more can you ask for!
